Sound effects

Ask Ziva for the sounds your game needs. Ziva makes a few takes of each one, you pick the take you like by ear, and Ziva saves it into your project and plays it in your game.

Sound effects are available on Basic, Pro, and Ultra.

How to use it

  1. Under Settings → Agent, leave Enable image and sound generation tools on. It is enabled by default.
  2. Ask for the sounds, for example: “add sounds to the player: jump, land, coin pickup, hurt.”
  3. Approve Generate Sound.
  4. In the Pick your sounds card, press ▶ to hear each take, select one per sound, and click Submit. To change a sound instead, type what you want, for example “more cartoony,” and Ziva makes new takes.
  5. Ziva saves your picks and adds the code that plays them, with a little pitch variation so repeated sounds do not sound robotic.

Sounds are saved as MP3 files under res://assets/generated/audio/. If a file name already exists, Ziva adds a number instead of overwriting it. Looping sounds, such as rain or an engine hum, are imported with looping on.

Ziva also adds a small helper script, res://addons/ziva_audio/ziva_sfx.gd. Your game calls ZivaSfx.play(self, preload("res://assets/generated/audio/jump.mp3")) to play a sound. If your project has an audio bus named SFX, the helper plays sounds on it so you can add a volume slider.

Plan and usage

Each take is billed by its length. A typical request of four short sounds with three takes each costs about four cents of usage. Takes you do not pick are still billed.

License and store disclosure

The sound provider’s terms allow commercial use of generated sounds, so you can ship them in games you sell.

Steam asks developers to disclose AI-generated content that ships in a game, including sound. When you fill in the Steamworks content survey, list these sounds as pre-generated AI content. Other stores may have similar rules.

Privacy

Your sound descriptions are sent through Ziva’s sound service to the sound provider. The takes come back to your computer, and only the take you pick is written into your project.

Troubleshooting

Generate Sound is missing. Switch to Default mode and check that Enable image and sound generation tools is on under Settings → Agent.

The sound was made but not saved. Check that the project folder is writable before trying again. Sounds that reached the save step may still count toward your usage.

The sound does not play in the game. Make sure the line that calls ZivaSfx.play runs, for example by checking the Output panel for errors, and that your game’s audio is not muted.
