Checking Godot Code Examples
This is optional help for checking code examples, not a first-game tutorial. Try examples in a separate project before adding them to your game. You can ask Ziva: “Help me try this example in a separate project. Explain what I should see before we use it in my game.”
For these checks, use Godot 4.7.2 with the Compatibility renderer, the graphics option chosen when creating a project. Note your Godot version, renderer, operating system and scene settings so you can repeat the check. Other versions and renderers need their own checks.
Check the noise samples
Use the complete FastNoiseLite script and scene setup: https://ziva.sh/blogs/godot-procedural-generation#heightmaps-biomes-and-perlin-noise
- Run the scene and look for eight rows of eight samples in Output.
- Run it again with the same seed, noise type, frequency and fractal settings. Compare the output.
- Change only
terrain_seed, run again, and check that at least one sample changes. Restore the original seed and repeat.
The printed values are rounded. Matching text is a useful check, not proof that the underlying values are exactly equal. These samples are not a finished terrain mesh. The guide’s BSP and WFC sections are sketches of map-generation techniques, not complete generators you can run on their own.
Check the CRT overlay
Use the shader and full-viewport ColorRect setup for an old-TV screen effect: https://ziva.sh/blogs/godot-shaders#effect-4-crt-scanlines
- Set
curvatureandscanline_intensityto zero. Compare recognizable background features with the overlay hidden and visible; they should line up. - Increase one setting at a time. Check the scanlines, bent features and opaque black corners where the curved coordinates leave the screen.
- Resize the game window. Check that the overlay still covers it and clicks reach a control behind the overlay.
- Move a HUD before and after the CRT layer and compare which version is affected. Check the guide’s screen-copy rules if you combine effects.
If the result differs
Read Output and the Debugger for script and shader errors. A program reporting a successful exit does not prove the scene ran without errors or drew the right image.
Check the attached script or material, seed, rectangle coverage and layer order against the example. Change one setting at a time and keep the failing scene small enough to reproduce.
Plan and privacy
These manual Godot checks need no Ziva plan or AI-provider request. Asking Ziva for help uses your selected model’s normal usage. Review unfamiliar scripts and resources before opening or running a project. Do not paste secrets into chats or error reports.
