Devlog videos
Devlog turns the work you already do into short videos you can post. While it’s on, Ziva records your game runs and the editor as you build, then cuts the best moments into 10-15 second vertical videos with captions, ready for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.
Devlog is part of Pro and Ultra.
Turn it on
- In the chat header, open the ⋮ menu and choose Devlog videos.
- Click Start recording.
Then keep building as usual. Use the REC chip in the Devlog panel to pause, resume, or turn recording off.
When videos are made
Ziva makes new videos automatically after every 3 game runs. You can also click Make videos now in the Devlog panel after running your game at least once.
Videos are made in the background, so you can keep working. You’ll see a note above the chat box when they’re ready. Each batch has up to 3 videos, such as gameplay highlights, a before-and-after of something you built, or a timelapse of your session.
Edit captions and save
Open a video in the Devlog panel to watch it.
- Edit captions: change any caption, then click Update video with new captions.
- Save video: saves an
.mp4toMovies/Ziva Devlogon macOS, orVideos/Ziva Devlogon Windows and Linux.
Privacy and cost
- Recordings stay on your computer and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- When videos are made, some frames from your recordings and your requests to Ziva are sent to Ziva’s AI to pick shots and write captions. Full recordings are never uploaded.
- Each batch uses about $0.05 of your usage.
Troubleshooting
- “Your last game run was not recorded”: run your game again. If it keeps happening, update or reinstall the Ziva plugin.
- “Devlog’s video encoder does not run on this computer”: update or reinstall the Ziva plugin.
- “No video passed its checks this time”: run your game a few more times and Ziva will try again.
- Make videos now is disabled: make sure recording is on, run your game once more, and wait for any videos in progress to finish.
