Use Ziva with Godot C#
Ziva works in Godot C# (.NET) projects. It writes and edits .cs scripts, adds them to your scenes, runs the game and reads Godot's C# build errors so it can fix them. You can still mix C# and GDScript.
What you need
- The .NET version of Godot. The standard version can't run C#.
- The .NET SDK, so Godot and Ziva can build your code. See Godot's C# setup.
- A C# project file. If your project has no C# scripts yet, choose Project > Tools > C# > Create C# solution in Godot first.
Example: collect a coin
In a small Godot 4.7 .NET project with a Player that moves with the arrow keys, we asked:
This is a C# Godot project. Add a coin the player can collect, written in C#: when the player touches the coin, the coin disappears and a score label on screen goes up by one. Then run the scene to check it works.
Ziva wrote Coin.cs and ScoreLabel.cs, gave the player a hitbox, added the coin and the label to the scene, then ran it while holding the right arrow key. Its screenshot showed Score: 1 and the coin was gone. In a later chat we asked for a patrolling enemy without naming a language, and Ziva wrote Enemy.cs.
Fix C# build errors
When C# code doesn't compile, the game won't start and Godot says Failed to build project. Check MSBuild panel for details. Ask Ziva:
Godot says "Failed to build project" when I press Play. Can you fix it?
Ziva finds the error by building the project with dotnet build or by running your scene. When it runs a scene, it gets Godot's C# build errors with file, line and error code, such as:
res://ScoreLabel.cs:15:9 CS0266: Cannot implicitly convert type 'double' to 'int'.After the fix, Ziva builds again to check that the error is gone.
If you connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex to Ziva as an MCP server, Ziva's get_godot_errors and run_scene tools return the same C# build errors.
Limits
- Ziva doesn't set up C# in a project. Create the C# solution in Godot first.
- Ziva doesn't autocomplete C# as you type. Keep Visual Studio, VS Code or Rider for typing and use Ziva for changes across scenes and scripts.
- Ziva checks C# changes by building and running your scenes. It can't run C# unit tests.
- Godot can't export C# projects to the web yet, so Share web builds doesn't work for C# games.
