Game Icon Generator: Every Size, Plus a Real .ico

Upload one square image and get every common game icon size: the Godot project icon, a multi-size Windows icon.ico, Android and Google Play icons, the iOS App Store icon and the Steam client icons. Resizing is free and runs in your browser. No art yet? Describe the icon and generate one with AI on your Ziva account.

Step 1 of 3: Mode

How to use it

  1. Choose Resize my image to use your own art, or Generate with AI to make a new icon, and press Next.
  2. To resize, press Upload image and choose square artwork, ideally 1024x1024 or larger. To generate, describe the icon and pick Smooth or Pixel art.
  3. Tick the platforms you need, or pick 256x256 or 512x512 for an AI icon.

Game icon sizes by platform

Godot project icon: set it in Project Settings > Application > Config > Icon. A new Godot 4 project starts with a 128x128 icon.svg, and the exporters fall back to the project icon when a platform icon is missing, resizing it as needed, so give it a larger PNG such as 256x256.

Windows: Godot's Windows export builds an .ico with 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixel images, and warns if a custom .ico is missing any of them. Set icon.ico in the Windows export preset under Application > Icon, and in Project Settings > Application > Config > Windows Native Icon, which sets the running game's window and taskbar icon.

Android: Godot's Android export uses a 192x192 main launcher icon, plus 432x432 foreground and background layers for adaptive icons. The Google Play store listing needs a separate 512x512, 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1024 KB.

iOS: Apple asks for one 1024x1024 icon, and Godot's iOS export uses its 1024x1024 App Store icon setting to make the rest.

Steam: the client app icon is a 184x184 JPG shown in library lists, chat and notifications, and the desktop shortcut icon is a 256x256 or 512x512 PNG or ICO.

Make an icon that reads at 16 pixels

Every icon here is the same image at different sizes, so design for the smallest: one bold silhouette, two or three colors, and no text or thin outlines. Check the 16x16 and 32x32 files after you download them; if you cannot tell what the shape is, simplify it.

For pixel art, tick Pixel art so edges stay hard. Sizes that are not a whole multiple of your art, such as 48 or 184 from 32x32 art, have to drop or double some pixels, so check those files by eye.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a game icon be?
Start from a 1024x1024 square, the size Apple's App Store asks for, and scale down. Godot's Windows .ico needs 16 to 256 pixels, Android's launcher icon in Godot is 192x192, Google Play wants 512x512 and Steam's app icon is 184x184.
How do I make a .ico file for my Godot game?
Choose Resize my image, upload your art, keep Windows .ico ticked and press Make icons. Download icon.ico and set it in the Windows export preset under Application > Icon. It contains 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixel images, the sizes Godot's Windows export expects.
Is the game icon generator free?
Resizing your own image is free, needs no account and never uploads your art. Generating a new icon with AI needs a Ziva account, and each generation counts toward your Ziva plan's AI usage.
Can the AI make pixel art icons?
Yes. Pick Pixel art under Style before you generate. You get a PNG with a transparent background at 256x256 or 512x512, which you can then run through Resize my image with Pixel art ticked.
Why does my icon look blurry?
Your source image is probably smaller than the biggest icon you asked for, so it was scaled up. Upload art at least 1024x1024, or tick Pixel art if the art is meant to have hard pixels.
